New Feature: Google Classroom “Share Classwork & Templates”

Remember the days of juggling co-teacher invitations just to share resources in Google Classroom? Those notification-filled, permission-granting gymnastics are officially a thing of the past! Introducing the “Share Classwork & Templates” feature, a game-changer that simplifies collaboration and eliminates the need for co-teacher workarounds.

What are Shareable Class Templates?

This feature allows teachers to create "master" Google Classrooms packed with reusable resources like assignments, quizzes, questions, materials, and grading rubrics. These templates can then be shared with other teachers within your department, grade level, or even the entire district, fostering collaboration and ensuring a common foundation for specific topics or units.

Can I use this feature in my actual Google Classroom?

Yes. Colleagues will no longer have to be a co-teacher to be able to see and copy your classwork. By providing them with the sharable link from your Google Classroom, they can preview your classwork and copy it if they'd like. However student information, like assignment submissions, comments, and grades are hidden.

Important Considerations:

  • Similar to sharing a Google Doc, any teacher with the link can access the Classroom and copy items. We encourage responsible use and respect for intellectual property.
  • Students cannot access the shared Classroom directly via the link. They remain enrolled in their individual Classrooms, where they complete work and interact with their teachers. This safeguards student privacy and ensures proper learning management.
