Website Not Loading? Chrome’s "Backpack" Could Be Full!

Ever had a website act weird just for you but it works for others? A quick fix is to clear your cache and cookies—think of it as cleaning your computer's "backpack" and tossing old "sticky notes."

"Backpack" (Cache)
Imagine your cache is your backpack. You put your most-used school supplies in it for quick access. Websites do the same, storing images and code to load faster. But if a website changes, your "backpack" might have old, incorrect information. Clearing it refills your backpack with the right stuff. This can speed up your browsing, by removing outdated files.

"Sticky Notes" (Cookies)
Cookies are like sticky notes. They help websites remember you—logins, shopping carts, etc. But like old sticky notes, they can have outdated information. Clearing them gives you a fresh start and can solve log in issues. Additionally, they can improve your privacy by limiting how much websites track your online activity.

How to Clear Your Cache and Cookies

In Google Chrome:
  • Click the three dots (More) in the top right corner.
  • Go to "Delete browsing data."
  • Select "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files."
  • Choose a time range and click "Clear data."
  • Check out these more detailed directions
