3 Gmail Tricks to Start Today!

It’s hard to remember what life was like before Gmail - did we really send handwritten notes home to families and make a phone call to our supervisor to ask a curriculum question? So much of our life has been streamlined by email communication as educators. Here are three quick Gmail Tips to help you stay on top of your email game even better!

1. Schedule Send

Draft now, send later! Schedule send is a great way to get an email written that will automatically send at a later time. Need to send an email reminder to your students the day before a test? Simply draft the email and then click the drop down arrow for Schedule send. Choose the date, time and that’s it! The email will be stored in a “Scheduled” folder in Gmail. Scheduled messages will appear in the “Scheduled” folder while queued to be sent.

Customize your Signature

2. Customize your Signature

Make your signature work for you. Aside from adding in your credentials and a cute photo, you can add in frequently requested links, such as your class website or the link to your extra help sign up. Here at the Tech Department, we include the link to our Booking Page, that way if you ever want to book a personalized training session with an amazing Tech Coach, you can just find one of our old emails and Voila!

3. Undo Send

We’ve all been in that situation where we’ve hit Send a little quicker than we should have. With Unsend a message, you have a small window of time that you can cancel. But did you know that you can extend that window up to 30 seconds? To adjust the amount of time, go to your settings and change it to 30 seconds. Heads up - if you navigate away from the screen that shows the undo banner at the bottom, your time is up. So if you send something and are debating changing your mind - debate with the undo banner still showing.
